Hi Jessica,

I am still trying to help my friend get buried. The Village Voice ran
a great story today and it got some attention from the NYC Mayor’s
Office, however it has led to more delay! If all goes well, the city
may bury him properly after all. But I hope they don’t just take us
back to square one, asking the VA if Richard is eligible for VA burial
and finding out he’s not.

I am writing to my Pennsylvania friends to request that you write a
short note to our senator, Arlen Spector, who sits on the VA committee
in the senate. I think it could really help.

I read an article in this week’s Village Voice online about recently
deceased US Army Veteran, Richard Leck. It’s shameful to hear about
any of our vets enduring homelessness, and I hated to hear that Mr.
Leck may go to Potter’s Field, or that his burial may be delayed any
further. Is this how we treat our vets? I hope you will see to it that
the VA gives him a proper burial.
