Joe was my drawing teacher at Otis Art institute (1972 to 1974). He and Allen Zaslov (my other drawing teacher) each gave me a letter of recommendation to Don Duckwall at Walt Disney Animation. Joe was an awesome inspiration. Love the man. I highly recommend the book. Larry Bevins.

Thanks for stopping by, Larry. I love discovering how teaching artists plant seeds in so many people over the years, and how that affects their students.

In reference to “Thanks for stopping by…” – Ya, Joe was a great teacher. My three fondest memories : 1. Him recommending me to Walt Disney Animation for a position in the story department. 2. Going out to lunch (right down the street from Otis Art Institute) with him and Ray Bradbury. And 3. Getting a tour of his studio in Highland Park… And him allowing me to “snatch” one of his reject prints out of his trash can. Still have that print.
